A fresh project of folk music based on the group’s own compositions and re-elaborations of popular melodies; this is how Bruma Folk can be defined, in freedom, without barriers.
Bruma Folk was formed in Cantabria at the beginning of 2009 with four young artists coming from different musical styles, but with a great common hobby: folk music. After a few months of rehearsals full of enthusiasm and illusion, they make their debut at the Pie de Concha festival, pleasantly overflowing all the expectations that the group itself had about its concert and the impressions that it could cause to the public. From here and after passing through the international competition Escenario Prau 2010 where they reap a valuable fifth place, the quality and repercussion of the group will increase considerably, surpassing the ten performances in their first campaign and sharing the bill with great artists and groups such as Fred Morrison, Wolfstone or Dervish among others.
Soon after, they published a small video clip of the song “Madre anoche en las trincheras”, which was later versioned by different authors. At present the video, work of the illustrator Javier Codina, surpasses the two million visualizations in Youtube. They have been finalists in several musical contests, including “Sarmiento Folk-Rock” (La Seca, 2011), “FolkezBlai” (Ermua, 2015) and “Proyecto Runas” (Ortigueira, 2018). The latter gives them the privilege of opening the concerts of the 40th edition of the Ortigueira Celtic World Festival, considered one of the most important of its kind worldwide.
At the end of the summer of 2014, his first album, “Juerza”, is released. It is a work full of commitment and sacrifice made up of 10 songs that sum up his first five years of life.
Bruma bet on a very personal folk, where each component brings very different ideas to each other, being an open project that does not focus on a particular type of music. With a forceful base and close in many moments to rock, they approach from traditional themes up to medieval glosses, happening through numerous compositions of the own group.
Nowadays, their main and practically only purposes are to continue growing and learning, enjoying and making others enjoy what they do.
