The Grup de Danses Sargantana is a children’s group that was created in April 2012 on the occasion of the participation in the first children’s dance that was held in the square of the virgin.
They have performed in dansás, festivities in various neighborhoods of Valencia and in many villages throughout the Valencian Community. Their folklore has also travelled through different parts of our country, participating in festivals in Huesca, Torrox, Villanueva de Algaidas, Les Preses, Irún,… as well as in the International Festival of the Sierra in 2014; outside our borders they participated in 2018 in the Europeade de Viseu (Portugal).
They are organizers of the Festival nacional de Sargantana, which has also been international in some editions.
The purpose of this small large group is the study and dissemination of clothing, music and traditional dance Valencian, not in vain in their performances use costumes of the eighteenth and nineteenth century.
At present, it is made up of 30 boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 20, as well as a 9-component rondalla with guitars, lutes, bandurrias and guitarrón,…
It also has a school for children of all ages that is growing day by day and that allows the cultural association to be a reference of Valencian folklore.
