The Agrupación Folklórica Virgen de Gracia was founded in 1979, with the aim of researching and disseminating the varied and rich folklore of La Mancha and in particular that of Puertollano and its region.
It belongs to the FEAF (Spanish Federation of Folklore Associations) since 1985. In this same sense, it has actively participated in the creation of the Regional Federation of Folklore Groups of Castilla-La Mancha, being a founding member of it.
It is made up of around 45 members, including musicians, singers and dancers.
In order to guarantee its continuity, it has two dance and music schools with sections, a children’s group called Carboneritos de Virgen de Gracia and an access group. The children’s schools are made up of around 75 boys and girls of different ages, and the second one has 30 students dedicated to learning pulse and plectrum instruments such as the guitar, bandurria, lute and mandolin.
It has participated in many festivals in the Castilian-La Mancha region and in various national festivals. They have travelled beyond our borders to countries such as Belgium, France and Portugal.
It is worth mentioning that as an association they organise the following events: Youth Children’s Festival, Biennial organisation of the National and International Puertollano City Festivals – with the sponsorship of the City Council – and the organisation in December of the Festival Homenaje al Minero, among others.
The dances performed are great pieces of La Mancha Folklore and are made up of jotas, seguidillas, fandangos, rondeñas, torras, etc….
