Kassoyumaye is a ballet composed of young people without distinction of race, religion or political differences.
It was founded in March 1987 in Dalifort. Its name, chosen by the members of the group themselves, indicates the peace and solidarity that should exist between artists, hence the choice of “Kassoumaye”, which means Peace in the Diola language (inhabitants of a region in the south of Senegal).
The vocation of the Kassoumaye ballet is to inform, raise awareness and train our young people in art so that they can pass it on to their villages. They are trained in both dance and percussion, with the Djembe and Soumba as their main instruments.
