El Harriero had its first performance and since then they have never missed an appointment in Arroyo de la Luz, being very important dates: Las Candelas (February), Festival Internacional Pueblos del Mundo (August), Día de Extremadura (September), Gala Solidaria (December), Misas a la Virgen de la Luz (April), Residencia de Ancianos (December), among others.

In addition, the Group has had an endless number of performances throughout Extremadura and Spain. They have also performed internationally in Portugal, France and Belgium.

In addition, the group has had countless performances throughout Extremadura and the rest of Spain. They have also performed internationally in Portugal, France and Belgium.

At present, the Municipal Folkloric Group “El Harriero” is in charge of keeping alive the music, lyrics and traditional dances of Arroyo. Dressed in typical Arroyo costumes, they have in their repertoire old songs and chants, both from Arroyo and from other parts of the region.

The town of Arroyo de la Luz currently has an important folklore school made up of boys and girls of different ages (5 to 14 years old). In this school, the pupils begin to get to know in depth the customs and traditions of Arroyo de la Luz.

The objective of the Harriero is to achieve the survival of something so beautiful and so much ours as FOLKLORE, CULTURE AND TRADITION.
